Biodegradable packaging

Something is "biodegradable" if it can be disintegrated. Biodegradable polyethylene degrade under certain conditions. However, the key is to note how long it takes for the product to biodegrade. Some products decompose in months, while others take years.

A polymer form is considered biodegradable if it decomposes into its main constituents within 6 months according to the Internationally Accepted Standard EN13432.

The advantage of biodegradable packaging is that under certain conditions they reduce waste. The disadvantage is the narrow application and the few types of packaging that can be produced.
